On our Facebook page today we have included some photos of vintage pinnies – aprons – to show how vintage does not have to be grand or expensive.
Many periods are identified by domestic, home-made and simple items – the plain green Beryl crockery so loved by 40s and 50s canteens (and the W.I.!) have become collectable and the simples lines of 60s Ercol and Heals furniture are now much admired. Of course vintage Cadillacs and Morris Minors command hefty prices today but for many years they were usurped by the modern and more technologically advanced motors!
So these pinnies are just lovely to look at and have a very practical use – but they no longer represent the ‘little woman’ tied to the kitchen sink but can be worn by modern, independent women who just happen to love baking and cooking!
